Dear SBMS Family, Thank you for inquiring about Santa Barbara Middle School’s Financial Aid Program. The purpose of the program is to enhance the experience of all SBMS students by having a diverse student body that reflects the community at large. Students are awarded financial aid based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. Every family is required to pay some portion of the tuition. Families receiving financial aid are asked to reapply each year. However, once tuition assistance has been awarded, prior recipients are given first preference in subsequent years. To remain eligible, the family must continue to demonstrate financial need and complete the application on time.

NEW THIS YEAR – THE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION In order to be considered for financial aid, please follow the step-by-step instructions. All information provided to SBMS regarding financial aid is confidential. IMPORTANT DATES & DEADLINES New families complete Steps 1-3 of the instructions by March 19, 2010. ** Please note: many of our admissions packets distributed earlier this year stated the deadline for financial aid applications was April 16, 2010. We have moved up the deadline to March 19, 2010 and appreciate your understanding. ** Financial aid awards are determined by the Financial Aid Award Committee, and these awards will be determined in mid-March through early April. Please remember that we cannot consider your application for financial aid until all required forms and documents are complete and submitted. Financial aid applications submitted by the above deadlines will be given priority. We understand that this new application process will take some time, and thank you for your understanding as we navigate this new system together.
