Department: Instructional, Middle School (grades 6-9)

Job Description:

Santa Barbara Middle School (SBMS) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic math teacher to join our exceptional team. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to collaborate with experienced colleagues and contribute to our innovative “untethered” math program, where students are placed based on proficiency rather than grade level or age.

Math Teacher – Santa Barbara Middle School

Santa Barbara Middle School (SBMS) is seeking a passionate and collaborative math teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in our unique “untethered” math program, where students are placed by proficiency rather than grade level.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or related field.
  • Preferred: Teaching credential and/or Master’s Degree.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring Algebra I through Calculus and Statistics.
  • Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate curricula.
  • Strong classroom management and differentiation skills.

Beyond the Classroom

Faculty actively participate in:
  • Weekly meetings, professional development, and community events.
  • Teaching electives based on personal interests.
  • Outdoor Education Program (approx. 20 nights/year) involving kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, and camping.
